Young Professionals Family Event

First Friday Sip & Shop
August 3rd, 3 pm - Until...
Blowing Rock merchants invite you to join them for a "happy hour" style stroll where you can sip and shop in stores from 3 pm until... (many stores may be open late!) Stop by your favorite shops, or check out a new one, before heading over to music on the lawn! Free refreshments at participating locations!



Summer Accelerator Student Presentations
August 9th at 3:30 pm
This summer, 8 students from Blowing Rock School participated in the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics' Summer Accelerator program. Join us at the American Legion to watch the students present what they learned. Please RSVP - we want to make sure there's enough Kilwin's ice cream for everyone!

Dinner, Live Music, and a Movie in the Park
July 26th
Stop by The Speckled Trout Restaurant and Bottle Shop for dinner, drinks, and great live music by Momma Molasses! Afterwards, head to Memorial Park at dusk for tonight's family-friendly feature 'Ratatouille' sponsored by The Speckled Trout!


60th Annual Blowing Rock Tour of Homes
July 27th, 9 am - 5 pm
The annual Tour of Homes, sponsored by St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church, opens the doors to some of Blowing Rock’s most special private homes! This tour offers an opportunity to admire the special features and furnishings that have been cherished by homeowners for generations.




Watauga Humane Society Rummage Sale
July 27th & 28th
The sale will be at the National Guard Armory off State Farm Road in Boone. The Watauga County Humane Society relies on the rummage sale to generate much needed funds for the adoption center. All proceeds from the sale go to the care and feeding of the animals awaiting their new homes.



Rosen Sculpture Walk
July 28th at 10 am
The Rosen Sculpture Walk begins with a brief introduction at the Schaefer Center. It is free, open to the public, and includes stops at ten sculptures providing an opportunity to learn more about each work and its artist. The walk concludes at the Schaefer Center with the naming of the top winners followed by a reception. Read More



Artist Reception
July 28th, 11 am - 5 pm
Alta Vista Gallery has a new art show hanging now through August 14th, “Contemporary Impressionism,” 30 oils by Linville Ridge artist Joan Sporn who died this year following a battle with cancer. Alta Vista represented Sporn for 21 years and is hosting a reception for her show this Saturday, July 28th. The public is invited to drop in to meet her sons and mingle with others to celebrate together how her work mirrors her life. Refreshments will be served. 10% of proceeds will be donated to cancer research.



Back to School Shop & Share Event
July 28th, 12 - 4 pm
Shop at J.Crew | Crew Cuts at Tanger Outlets this Saturday! Mention the "Back to School Shop & Share Event" at checkout and you will receive 20% off your purchase of $100 or more, plus Blowing Rock School will receive a percentage of the event proceeds!


American Songster
July 28th at 7:30 pm
Dom Flemons is originally from Phoenix, Arizona and currently lives in the Washington, D.C. area. He is known as “The American Songster” since his repertoire of music covers nearly 100 years of American folklore, ballads, and tunes. He will be playing at the Harvest House Performing Arts Venue in Boone.



In the Heights at Lees-McRae
Opens July 31st
From Hamilton composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, In the Heights musically presents three generations in Washington Heights, New York. Their American dreams reveal nostalgia, love, and concern for their neighborhood, mixed with Latin music from their countries and the rhythms of the street. This show is PG-13.



The Denim Ball
August 3rd at 6 pm
Join the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation at Chetola Resort for a fun-filled fundraising ball to benefit Moses H. Cone Memorial Park. Enjoy dinner, drinks, auction, and live music!



12th Annual Blowing Rock Art & Antiques Show
August 3rd - 5th
Held at the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum, the Blowing Rock Art & Antiques Show showcases a variety of art and antique vendors from across the Southeast. Art lovers and antique hunters alike are invited to visit the show!



An Appalachian Summer Festival
Now - August 4th
Each July, Appalachian State University presents a series of concerts, films, dance performances, and lectures as part of their Appalachian Summer Festival. Still to come this month: Rhiannon Giddens (tonight!), BODYTRAFFIC, and more. Kristen Chenoweth will close out the season on August 4th.



Ribbon Cutting & Community Resource Fair
August 8th, 11 am - 2 pm
Casting Bread Ministries invites you to a ribbon cutting for their newly launched Welcome Center on the campus of FaithBridge UMC. Enjoy a cookout, music and entertainment.

Can't find a parking spot on Main Street? Don't worry - hop on AppalCART Public Transportation now serving Blowing Rock!
The FREE shuttle runs from 11 am - 6 pm on Friday, and 11 am - 5 pm on Saturdays, with 10 stops along the route providing easy access to Main Street!
