UNC TV's NC Weekend Visits Blowing Rock! Bob Garner of UNC TV's NC Weekend has been spending a lot of time in Blowing Rock! Timberlake's featured on the show on January 4, and last weekend, Blowing Rock Brewery and their Ale House was highlighted. A piece was filmed at the Speckled Trout just a little while back, and last week the crews were at Chestnut Grille at Green Park Inn. We're glad Bob and his crew seem to be onto something we all know: Blowing Rock has great food! See all the recent shows on the NC Weekend website.

BBB Torch Award for Ethics Nominations Open! Better Business Bureau of Western North Carolina has issued a call for nominations for their Annual Torch Awards for Ethics. Torch Awards for Ethics honors companies that demonstrate a high standard of ethics, generating trust among their employees, customers, and communities. The award embodies Better Business Bureau's mission to be the leader in advancing marketplace trust. We know there are so many businesses in Blowing Rock working hard to do the right thing!

Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo Friday, February 9th at 7 pm Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts Last seen in Boone in 2000, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo return to present their playful, entertaining view of traditional, classical ballet in parody form. For more than 40 years, the Trocks, as they are affectionately known, have been delighting audiences of all ages with a company of professional male dancers performing the full range of the ballet and modern dance repertoire, including classical and original works. Be a Sweetheart, Feed the Hungry Wednesday & Thursday, February 10th & 11th Mast General Stores The Mast General Stores in Valle Crucis and Boone are partnering with the Hunger and Health Coalition (HHC) to restock the HHC food pantry. The annual Be a Sweetheart, Feed the Hungry campaign matches each pound of candy purchased at Mast Store with a $1 donation, which will provide five meals for someone in our community who is hungry. Read More

Cork & Canvas: Valentine's Day Edition Wednesday, February 14th at 4 pm Blowing Rock Art & History Museum Create art in a relaxed atmosphere facilitated by trained instructor. Each participant goes home with a finished work of art inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe's Series I No. 8 painting. All materials, including canvas, paint, brushes, and aprons are provided. Wine and light snacks are complimentary.

Appalachian State University's Department of Theatre and Dance Announces Spring 2018 Season The Appalachian State University Department of Theatre and Dance will present four major productions during the spring 2018 season. Productions will take place at the university’s Valborg Theatre, I.G. Greer Studio Theatre and the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts. The season highlights new works, including “Well” by Lisa Kron, and well-known favorite Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.” Read More
