WinterFest 2018 Wowed the Crowd!

Valentines Day is just around the corner! We want to encourage folks to show their sweetheart and our local businesses love by shopping and dining locally.

Watch your inbox and social media for our local Valentine's guide. Members, do you want your special menu, gift items, etc. included? Of course you do! Email Loni a graphic, short description and a link (website or Facebook).

In conjunction with our exhibit Arts at the Center: A History of Black Mountain College, guest speaker Joseph Bathanti's talk on Black Mountain College (BMC) is not only a nice overview and primer on BMC, but it also deeply contemplates Bathanti's own personal engagement with BMC.
Free for museum members, $5 for non-members.

CareerFest is Appalachian State University's largest and most comprehensive career event. Serving students and alumni of all majors and skills, the event is host to many companies, non-profits, healthcare and government agencies that are ready to network with students and introduce them to valuable internship and job opportunities.

Movies at the Museum
MC Richards: The Fire Within

In the film, we witness M.C. Richards engaging in contemplative questioning regarding the nature of art, imagination, wholeness, community, and our place in the cosmos. She inspires us to live creatively, to believe in ourselves, to experience the sensuality of existence. This is a film not just about M.C. It’s about all of our quests to become authentic creators of art and community.

Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo
Friday, February 9th at 7 pm
Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts

Last seen in Boone in 2000, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo return to present their playful, entertaining view of traditional, classical ballet in parody form. For more than 40 years, the Trocks, as they are affectionately known, have been delighting audiences of all ages with a company of professional male dancers performing the full range of the ballet and modern dance repertoire, including classical and original works. Be a Sweetheart, Feed the Hungry
Wednesday & Thursday, February 10th & 11th
Mast General Stores

The Mast General Stores in Valle Crucis and Boone are partnering with the Hunger and Health Coalition (HHC) to restock the HHC food pantry. The annual Be a Sweetheart, Feed the Hungry campaign matches each pound of candy purchased at Mast Store with a $1 donation, which will provide five meals for someone in our community who is hungry. Read More
