BLOWING ROCK, April 18, 2017 -- Blowing Rock WinterFest is a celebration of winter, bringing 1,500 visitors each January. Besides boosting tourism, the event proceeds raised by the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce are donated to various area nonprofits. This year the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce was able to donate $4,360 of proceeds among seven nonprofits including Western Youth Network (WYN),  Hospitality House of Boone, Women’s Fund of the Blue Ridge, Blowing Rock Rotary, Blowing Rock Fire & Rescue, Blowing Rock Parks & Recreation, and Task Force Dagger Foundation.

“WinterFest is about the Chamber providing opportunities to many organizations in the High Country community to raise money for their respective causes or organizations”, said Charles Hardin, the President/CEO of the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce.

During WinterFest many additional local organizations benefited by hosting independent events to raise money. Mountain Alliance raised $11,000 at their WinterFest Auction in the American Legion Building. Other organizations that benefited from WinterFest events include the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum, Watauga Humane Society, Blowing Rock School PTO, and the Girl Scouts.  Any nonprofit organizations interested in hosting a WinterFest event for 2018 can contact Billie Rogers, Events Director at (828) 295-7851 or by email at billie@blowingrock.com
