Restaurant Hours
With unpredictable staffing and abrupt changes in travel patterns due to covid-19, restaurant hours have been changing often. For example, Village Cafe was open for Labor Day, but will be closed this Wednesday as a result. The Chamber of Commerce is currently maintaining a listing of Blowing Rock restaurant hours. The hours are updated weekly. Bookmark this page for reference so you can help your guests and customers when they are looking for dining! 

Business After Hours -RSVP
Join us for a joint Business After Hours with Boone Area Chamber at Mystery Hill on Thursday, September 16th from
5:00pm - 7:00pm.
Attendees will be offered passport booklets to enjoy all of the Mystery Hill offerings to be used during the After Hours event or at a later date.


Career Center Resources
Village Hardware - Closing
After 24 years of taking care of the Town's hardware needs, Village Hardware is closing! Stephanie is ready for retirement and to work on her vineyard.

Village Hardware's last day will be October 9th. Visit the hardware's close out sale and say goodbye!
Community Calendar Dates & Photos
We need public event and meeting dates for the 2022 Blowing Rock Community Calendar! Send event information by October 1.
Photos are also being accepted for inclusion. This year's image theme is buildings: whether they are historical or simply unique to Blowing Rock. Final images are selected based on quality and aesthetic variety. All images must be horizontal, high resolution, and printable to at least 10.5" x 8". If you'd like to submit an image for consideration, send by September 15.
All event dates and image submissions go to amanda@visitblowingrock.com.
Watauga Covid-19 Update
 In areas with substantial and high transmission, the CDC recommends that everyone (including fully vaccinated individuals) wear a mask in public indoor settings to help prevent the spread of the Delta variant, and to protect others. Watauga County is considered an area of High transmission.

AppHealthCare offers COVID-19 testing by drive-thru Monday through Friday 8:30-10:00am at each of our clinic locations. No appointment is needed. 

Blowing Rock School Playground Restroom
The Blowing Rock Leadership Challenge Class of 2019 has finally completed their class project!

The Restroom at the Blowing Rock School Playground is open from 9am-6pm seven days a week. The restroom will be maintained by Blowing Rock School and the Town of Blowing Rock.

Please join the Chamber on Monday, September 20th at 5pm for the official ribbon cutting.

New Members
HB House (Health and Beauty House) owned by Miya Zimmerman and Heather Rogers. This is a collective of individuals with an atmosphere of support and sharing with a social environment and community connections. Their main goal is to share space with the community and contribute to the growth of those in the health and beauty industryThey are located in Boone on Meadowview Drive. They offer salon services and facial aesthetics including brows, facials, lashes and waxing.

Residential Member – Andee Baur
Andee is from Sarasota, Florida and is a full-time resident of Blowing Rock. An avid baker and she is interested in opening a small business here featuring her bite-size desserts. She is married and is searching for a greater sense of community and resources in the area.
Grandfather Mtn State Park
Do you ever listen to folk music and wonder about the history of the tunes? Come explore the history of the fiddle, from its voyage over the Atlantic Ocean with the first colonists, to its significance during and after the Civil War. The history will be interpreted by a Ranger, and the tunes will be provided by local fiddle player Rachiel Musumarra. Please bring a lawn chair and wear sturdy footwear, as there is a short walk from the parking area. No pets, please. Please RSVP for the program by phone at 828-963-9522 or at grandfather.mountain@ncparks.gov.

Hunger & Health Coalition
Hunger and Health Coalition and First Baptist Church of Boone Collaborate to Expand Food Assistance

This fall, two pillars of the Watauga community are joining forces. First Baptist Church of Boone and Hunger and Health Coalition are partnering to expand the food assistance services available at the First Baptist Church on King Street, strengthening the local safety net and making food security more accessible for all residents. After meeting and planning throughout the summer, the two organizations are excited to announce the start of this new partnership in September 2021. This partnership will mark the unveiling of the “Hunger and Health Coalition at First Baptist Church” (HHC at FBC) hub of services located on the ground floor of the First Baptist Church, adjacent to ASU’s campus. 
Alair Homes Good Neighbor Day
The Alair Homes Good Neighbor Day event is right around the corner on Saturday, September 26th from 3-6pm! Come out for a fun afternoon with live music, a birdhouse craft station, lawn games, a bounce
house, and much more! The proceeds from this event will go to support the Hunger
and Health Coalition’s A Simple Gesture Program, Mountain Alliance, Middle Fork
Greenway, and Lemonade For Change.
Artist in Residence
Artists in Residence continues, a daily event to recommend! This week's Artists in Residence is Fredrick Craig Franz, Landscapes in Oil and Soft Pastels. A forty-two year resident of the High Country, Frederick ‘Craig’ Franz’s home in Avery County is a landscape artist’s dream. Working in soft pastels and oils, his award-winning paintings are created both plein air and in the studio. 
 
Artists in Residence at Edgewood Cottage continues through September 19 and is open every day.
