Notes from State of the Town
The 10th Annual State of the Town was well attended this year. It was however surprising to note major stakeholders in the business community who were not present. Considering the size of the investment in commercial property in Blowing Rock, one would think that these folks would be most interested in how the Town is being developed.

Many thanks to BRAHM for the use of their meeting space. The Town is so fortunate to have such a beautiful comfortable facility for community meetings.

Despite the threat of rain, many gathered for a fun evening!

At 5 pm, we celebrated the recent opening of Stefano Laviano with a ribbon cutting. Immediately following, guests were invited to sign in for Business After Hours and receive instructions for a scavenger hunt taking them through the stores in SouthMarke. Read More

Virginia Foxx Receives Spirit of Enterprise Award from U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Clark Jackson, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Senior Manager of the Southeast Regional Office was at the State of the Town event on Thursday night and presented Foxx with the Spirit of Enterprise Award. Members of Congress who vote with the business community 70 percent or greater receive the award. According to Jackson, Foxx had a 93 percent voting record in support of businesses during the first session of the 115th Congress. Read More


Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
August 28th at 5:30 pm
We couldn't do everything we do without the help of our amazing volunteers. If you have volunteered this year (during one of our events, at the office, on our board or a committee, etc.), we want to honor you! Join us for a catered dinner at the American Legion Hall.

Please RSVP by noon on Friday, August 24th so we know you'll be there and so we have an accurate headcount for food and beverages.

Ribbon Cutting at Chetola Tent
September 5th at 4 pm
Join us for a joint ribbon cutting among the Blowing Rock, Boone, and Caldwell County Chambers of Commerce beneath Chetola’s new and improved lakeside tent. Chamber members are invited to enjoy a selection of canapes and hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine, bonfire, live music, and networking.

Artist Reception
August 25th, 11 am - 5 pm
Alta Vista Gallery in Valle Crucis has a new show by award-winning plein air painter Jeremy Sams. “Looking on the Bright Side” is hanging now through September 12th, and it can be previewed on the gallery’s Facebook page. On Saturday, August 25th, from 11 am to 5 pm, the public is invited to drop in at the gallery to enjoy the new show and to hear Sams discuss his art. Refreshments will be served. Read More



"Sunrise Splendor" by Jim Ruff
4th Annual Rotary Charity Auction
August 25th at 3 pm Silent / 5 pm Live
Join the Rotary Club of Blowing Rock this Saturday at the American Legion Hall. They will be auctioning vacations, fishing trips, art by local artists, and much more interesting merchandise donated by Rotarians and local merchants.
Food and beverages will be available. All proceeds will go to local charities in the High Country. The 2018 signature piece is a print of Jim Ruff's photograph, "Sunrise Splendor." 



Groovy Nights
August 26th, 28th & 31st
Everyone’s favorite event is back! We’re "Toasting to Ten" as Groovy Nights turns 10 this year! Held at Blowing Rock Country Club. Cash bar.



The Americana Show
August 28th at 2 pm
Enjoy Clay Lunsford, thumb picking guitarist and Matthew Weaver, piano at Harvest House in Boone. Amazing instrumentalists and vocalists!



YMCA Event

Blowing Rock Art & History Museum will host a reception to celebrate the latest changeover of exhibitions in the galleries.



Village Cafe Open Labor Day
September 3rd, 8 am - 2 pm
Village Café will be open on Labor Day from 8 am - 2 pm and this will be the start of their Fall hours, 8 am - 2 pm weekdays, 8 am - 2:30 pm on weekends. They would like to remind everyone that they are not dog friendly.

Blue Ridge Conservancy 5K Sponsored by Stick Boy Bread Company
September 22nd at 8 am
Enjoy the scenic views of the Blue Ridge as you challenge yourself with a climb up the historic Mayview neighborhood alongside other Blue Ridge Conservancy supporters. Run the 3.1 miles as fast as you can knowing that sticky buns, coffee, and even beer await as you cross the finish line. Formerly known as the Mayview Madness, the event was started 19 years ago as a fundraiser for what was then known as High Country Conservancy.
