Today is your last chance to grab local produce from Appalachian vendors at the Blowing Rock’s Farmers Market on Park Avenue!

Business After Hours TONIGHT!
October 11th, 5 - 7 pm
Members of the Blowing Rock and Boone Area Chambers of Commerce are gathering tonight at Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts for Business After Hours. Guests will enjoy a fun evening of networking, nibbles, ticket giveaways, backstage tours and music by Todd Wright & Friends.



Ribbon Cutting & Grand Opening
October 18th, 4 - 6 pm
Join us at Fireflies located in the Tanger Outlets and help us welcome them to the community! Ribbon cutting at 4 pm; grand opening celebration until 6 pm. Enjoy menu samples (including s'mores!), cash bar with drink specials, and drawings for dinner for two.




Ribbon Cutting & Artist Reception
October 19th at 5 pm
You are invited to gather in the Martin House courtyard for a ribbon cutting for the Martin House Gallery and artist welcome reception for renowned painter Ben Long. Please join us in welcoming the gallery and this celebrated artist to our community!


Candidates Forum
October 23rd at 5:30 pm
The annual Watauga County Meet the Candidates Forum will be held at the Watauga County Courthouse. The event is co-hosted by the Blowing Rock and Boone Area Chambers of Commerce. A live simulcast can be heard in its entirety on WATA (1450 AM / 96,5 FM).

We are looking for members to host Business BEFORE Hours in 2019. This morning networking event is a twist on Business After Hours... instead of cocktails and appetizers, it's coffee and donuts before heading to work.

28th Annual Oktoberfest
October 13th & 14th, 10 am - 5 pm
Grab your beer stein, put on your lederhosen or your dirndl, and head to Sugar Mountain Resort! Valle Crucis Middle School Band highlights the two-day festival. In addition, enjoy German and American food, children's fun center, Bavarian costume contest, arts & crafts vendors, and much more! Admission, parking, and shuttle service are free of charge.



An Evening of Jazz
October 13th, 4 - 10 pm
The Green Park Inn presents an evening of jazz in their lobby with Charlie Ellis from 4 - 7 pm, followed by The Message from 7 - 10 pm. Limited seating is available for dinner at Chestnut Grille; reservations recommended. Divide Tavern will be serving during regular hours.

Best of Old-Time Mountain Music
October 13th at 7:30 pm
Enjoy music by The Sheets Family with Trevor McKenzie at the Blowing Rock School Auditorium. The Sheets Family Band plays old time string band music from western North Carolina. The band features Randy Sheets on banjo, Deborah Jean Sheets on guitar and Kelly Sheets Snider on fiddle.



Social Security Seminar
October 23rd at 6 pm, Register by October 16th
Join Billy Chick, Edward Jones Financial Advisor at the American Legion in Blowing Rock to discuss how important Social Security claiming strategies could be to your overall retirement goals. Space may be limited. Light refreshments will be served. Call 828.295.6167 to RSVP by October 16th.



Scholars & Scones: Apple Tasting with Moretz Mountain Apples
October 18th at 11 am
Bill Moretz of Moretz Moutain Orchard will be at Blowing Rock Art & History Museum answering all our apple questions and telling us about the process of operating an apple orchard. Bill is also bringing many of his apples which are currently in season. Everyone in attendance will have an opportunity to sample different apples and purchase some to take home!



North Carolina Symphony
October 19th at 7 pm
Appalachian State University’s performing arts series, “The Schaefer Center Presents…” continues its 2018-19 season with a performance by the North Carolina Symphony at the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts. Under the direction of Grant Llewellyn, the North Carolina Symphony will present a program featuring the Cherokee Chamber Singers, soprano Eliza Bagg and the Hayes School of Music’s Appalachian Symphony Orchestra.
