Check for Charities!
Tuesday we presented a check to local charities as a result of monies raised during Blowing Rock WinterFest. The festival brings around 2,000 visitors each January and proceeds raised by the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce and our WinterFest events are donated to various area nonprofits. This year the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce was able to present checks to seven organizations including Western Youth Network, Blue Ridge Conservancy, Blood, Sweat & Gears, Mountain Alliance, the local Boy Scouts, and Blowing Rock Parks and Recreation. Over 15 different charities also benefitted from the Chili Cookoff. Total money raised for area non-profits during WinterFest came in at a whopping $25,550!  We are proud to support our non-profits and tourism industry through this great festival, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year.
