Real Estate Report As interest rates continued to flirt with hitting 4 percent, home buyers in the High Country remained unperturbed. October was another busy month for home sales. The Blowing Rock Town Council will soon consider appointments to the Planning Board, the Board of Adjustment, the Tourism Development Authority, the Alcohol Beverage Control Board and the Blowing Rock Appearance Advisory Commission. Festival of Trees Begins Today! Thursday - Sunday, November 30th - December 3rd Chetola Resort The Appalachian/Blue Ridge Room at Chetola Resort will be transformed into a Christmas spectacle for this annual event! Madrigal Feast Friday - Sunday, December 1st - 3rd Blowing Rock Art and History Museum The Choir of St. Mary of the Hills in Blowing Rock requests the pleasure of your company at the legendary musical and gastronomic treat, "The Revels of Winter". With four courses of magnificent medieval-style food and drink provided by Gideon Ridge Inn, madrigals and carols sung by the costumed choir as they serve spirits and comestibles, and original (occasionally bawdy) entertainment written and performed by the Jester and Wench, the evening promises to be one of general amusement and high revelry.

A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play Friday, December 1st at 7 pm Sunday, December 3rd at 2 pm Ensemble Stage Auditorium Historic Banner Elk School Kick off a whole weekend of Banner Elk's "A Small Town Christmas" festivities by being a part of the "studio" audience for our staged radio play, A Christmas Carol, and amp up your holiday heart. Santa Paws Saturday & Sunday, December 2nd & 3rd Watauga Humane Society You'd better not growl, you'd better not hiss - Santa Paws is coming to town!   Saturday, a photographer will be available to take photos of your pet & family for a $20 donation. Appointments are suggested (sign up); walk-ins accepted. Sunday, elves will be on hand to help you select & pose for photos with a shelter animal. Hand made crafts, jewelry & holiday items will be for sale both days. Donations of blankets, treats, food and cleaning supplies are welcome.
