Blowing Rock Leadership Challenge Group Silent Auction
Sunday, November 12th, 5 pm - 7 pm
Blowing Rock School Auditorium

The auction, held during Hometown Harvest, will feature goods & services from around the Blowing Rock Community. 

100% of the proceeds will go towards renovating the heavily used Blowing Rock Parks and Recreation space that hosts community fitness classes, summer camps, holiday festivals and more throughout the year.

Business owners from across the region will present and discuss entrepreneurial issues in a full day of speakers and workshops focused on entrepreneurial inspiration. This is an opportunity for students and community members to meet, network and learn from successful entrepreneurs. The day will end with the student Big Idea Pitch competition. Upgraded Snowmaking System
One-hundred percent of Sugar Mountain Resort’s skiable terrain is equipped with an underground piping system and surface machinery that produces manmade snow. Maintaining, upgrading and replacing the 48 year old system is a constant work-in-progress. During the past summer months a 1,000 gallons per minute, high-efficiency, variable-speed water pump replaced the oldest of the four, increasing capacity by 15%. Two new fully-automated SMI tower snow machines were added to the current fleet. Each of these upgrades means more snow, more quickly. Read More

Blowing Rock: A Sense of Place

Blowing Rock Art and History Museum

Is Blowing Rock unique? Is it historic? Does the area convey a sense of place? Historian Trent Margrif will explore these and other topics in his presentation. With the themes of BRAHM’s exhibition The Village of Blowing Rock: Exploring Our History as a guide, Margrif will share rare photos and unique oral histories and provide general observations of the community.
