Over 30,000 copies of the Blowing Rock Visitor's Map will be given away to our visitors through the Blowing Rock Visitor Center, at our downtown kiosks, to groups requesting info and through our lodging members.

The map features an overview of Blowing Rock, a walking tour guide, a Blue Ridge Parkway area overview and a LIMITED number of advertisements.

Business After Hours Recap
The September Business After Hours event was held at Chetola Resort on Tuesday, September 19th. Approximately 100 people enjoyed a wonderful evening of networking, delicious passed hors d'oeuvres prepared & served by Chetola as well as a selection of beer & wine from Blowing Rock Brewing Company. Real Estate Report
High Country temperatures are beginning to cool, but not the busy summer real estate season. In August local Realtor activity hit a high for the year, surpassing 200 for the second straight month. Interest rates dropped throughout the month, and by mid-September were at their lowest levels of 2017.



Blowing Rock Makes Tasting Table's List of Best Small Towns for Fall Travel
Tasting Table recently shared a list of their favorite small towns for taking in the fall season. Blowing Rock is included in their favorite places to "Fall off the Map" noting our area's hiking trails, wineries and eateries!

Important Survey:
Sunset Drive Streetscape
Blowing Rock Town leaders would like to know more about your experience and interests with regard to Sunset Drive. The responses you provide will help the project design team make recommendations for improvements to Sunset Drive.

Preliminary survey results will be presented at the November 14th Blowing Rock Town Council Meeting.

Tweetsie Railroad's ghost train starts this Friday! Hop aboard for a ghoulishly good time! This family friendly Halloween themed event has something for everyone from creepy carnival amusement rides to the haunted house.

Artist Reception
Saturday, September 23rd, 11 am - 5 pm

Meet award-winning plein air painter Monique Carr at her Opening Reception for her new oils: "Melody of Nature." Carr, a Contemporary Impressionist oil painter with an abstract leaning, has won many awards and was recently honored to be featured in the prestigious Southwest Art magazine.

Refreshments will be served.


Food Pantry Dinner & Auction
Thursday, September 28th at 5:30 pm
Blowing Rock Conference Center

Take action and help feed High Country families in need! Chef Robert Back and rising chefs from CCC&TI’s Culinary Arts program invite guests to enjoy a “Culinary Journey across America.” This event is part of Casting Bread’s observance of Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month and is a major fundraiser for Casting Bread Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen, which serves hundreds of High Country families and more than 1,000 individuals each month. 
Tickets: $25/each or $180/table of 8. Purchase tickets online or at the pantry located on Aho Road.


Meta Gatschenberger Photo Exhibit
October 15th - November 30th
Cannon Memorial Hospital

Award winning Macro Photographer, Meta Gatschenberger of Blowing Rock, will be exhibiting her framed prints of Western North Carolina at the Cannon Memorial Hospital Art Gallery in Linville. The exhibit will run from October 15th through November 30th, 2017. Framed Prints will be available for sale.


Sharing the Collection
The Blowing Rock Art & History Museum (BRAHM) is sharing their permanent collection with the community. Each week a work from the collection will be shared on their website and in their newsletter. This will be an ongoing project and will continue until their entire collection is posted for the public to view. BRAHM’s research will give a background on the work and a biography of the artist. Information about how and/ or why the artists made their works will be shared.
