Chamber Member Code: Blowing Rock Chamber Workplace Wellness with Mandy Cohen Dr. Mandy Cohen, Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services headlines the first session, scheduled for Monday, November 16th from 1:00-3:00pm, and presented by Appalachian Regional Healthcare System.  Dr. Cohen will provide a brief update on the State's response to the COVID-19 Pandemic and deliver remarks on the importance of emphasizing workplace wellness and catching up on deferred healthcare as we continue to work through our economic rebound. Equitable Hiring Webinar Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting economic downturn, much of North Carolina’s economy is bouncing back, and many employers are surprisingly experiencing a labor shortage. Revising hiring policies to include people with criminal records in the workforce is one solution. The North Carolina Department of Commerce Reentry Initiative presents “Equitable Hiring: Thinking Beyond the Box to Build Stronger Businesses and Safer Communities.” This one-hour virtual presentation will explain how businesses have the power to safely and effectively implement “Equitable Hiring” practices to help meet their business needs, obtain incentives for doing so, and create safer communities, all while reducing their concerns about litigation.
