Read more about this below; restrictions that remain in place at the county level include the continued prohibition of short-term rentals and the 14-day self-quarantine period for residents and non-residents arriving in the county for overnight stays. This includes second homeowners and anyone who may have traveled elsewhere and are returning back to Watauga County. At this time, these restrictions are set to expire on June 5th. Blue Ridge Parkway Closures
Senator Tony Rand Passes
Senator Tony Rand died peacefully early on the morning of May 1st at the age of 80 years old. Senator Rand served more than 20 years in the Senate and was highly respected among colleagues. Governor Cooper saying, "Tony Rand was a giant in this state, and he was the muscle that turned good ideas into great law".

Tony Rand was a beloved member of the Blowing Rock Community and avid supporter of the Blowing Rock Chamber. Tony was a member of the Chamber Board of Directors and served on the Community, Government & Education Committee. He used is vast knowledge of how the state government works to the Chamber's best interest in Raleigh. He was truly a strong supporter of all things Blowing Rock and he will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts are with Rand Family.
