Hwy 221 Closure
|
Due to recent heavy rains, Highway 221 between
Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain is closed. A washout
heavily damaged the highway and repairs will take at least two
weeks. The closure is between Pilot Ridge Road and Edgemont Road.
This means that folks can still travel to Westglow, Grandfather
Country Store, and Holloway Mountain Road, but alternate routes
will need to be used to travel farther to Grandfather Mountain
and Linville. The resurfacing of the Linn Cove Viaduct is
scheduled to be complete this week. Read
