Continuing Hurricane Relief Efforts

Project: Hope
Providing hurricane victims the relief needed in order to rebuild their lives; from one community to another.
Blowing Rock has long had ties to communities in Florida as we traditionally see a lot of visitors from those areas. Effort organizers feel a special urge to help the people there. The first trailer of donations will go to Texas and a second will go to Florida. Drop off points include the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce, Vincent Properties, Take Heart, Blowing Rock Baptist Church, Keller & Williams of Boone and the Boone Mall.
Follow the Project Hope Facebook page to find lists of items to donate and to follow their relief efforts.

Blowing Rock Fall Classic
Saturday, September 16th at 8 am
Park Avenue

Park Avenue will be closed to traffic for the first half of the day for this 72 mile race that begins at 8 am. A traffic escort will be provided as the large group of cyclists makes its way down Main Street. It only takes a few minutes for the cyclists to get out of town, so it won't take long for traffic to re-open on Main Street. There should be a large number of participants, as well as their family or friends that came with them. Consider ways you can welcome them to town, and perhaps even cheer them on as they come back to the finish line!
The winner is expected to finish in just over 3 hours and cyclists will continue to arrive at the finish for up to 6 hours. Expect cyclists in town between 11 am and 2 pm.

The Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce lawn is the ending party venue for the cyclists!

Come hear about this year's successes, current challenges and the future of our village.

Creating a Productive and Rewarding Workplace in Your Small Business
Thursday, October 5th at 7 pm
J.E. Broyhill Ciciv Center, Lenoir

The Small Business Centers in partnership with the Chambers of Commerce in Blowing Rock, Boone, Caldwell, Catawba, Burke and Wilkes are excited to bring #1 bestselling author Dr. Gary Chapman to Lenoir!

If a manager or leader can properly create and maintain a happy workplace, team members will seamlessly work together, be more productive and more engaged, therefore helping the company as a whole. “Work has become a barely bearable chore, with only 45 percent of workers in a recent survey saying they were happy with their careers,” explains Dr. Chapman. But it doesn’t have to be so.
Tickets are $25; signed books available at cost.

Important Survey:
Sunset Drive Streetscape
Blowing Rock Town leaders would like to know more about your experience and interests with regard to Sunset Drive. The responses you provide will help the project design team make recommendations for improvements to Sunset Drive.

Preliminary survey results will be presented at the November 14th Blowing Rock Town Council Meeting.
