State of Emergency Town of Blowing Rock
A State of Emergency for the Town of Blowing Rock has been reinstated due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in Watauga County, which is now considered to have "substantial" transmission risk.

The Blowing Rock Town Council has decided to require Face Coverings in Town of Blowing Rock Buildings, i.e. Town Hall, Police Station, Fire Station, American Legion, etc.

The Blowing Rock Town Council is also strongly encouraging businesses to require employees and customers to wear face masks while indoors as well.

High Country Caregivers Motown Night
Tuesday, September 14th

We are always very excited about our flagship annual fundraiser “A Night at Chetola.” This event, held lakeside at Chetola Resort features a five course meal, open bar, silent auction, and live music/dancing entertainment.
For 2021, the live music is generously provided by the award-winning 8-piece Motown band, “The Business.”

Hospitality House Auction
Hospitality House of Northwest North Carolina is moving forward with its largest annual fundraiser, the Hope Luncheon, Friday August 20, 2021 at Blue Ridge Mountain Club. In conjunction with that event, there will be an online auction featuring three hundred and sixty items valued at $80,000.
The wine social and silent auction had become a much looked-forward-to staple of the annual Hope Luncheon in years past. While the wine social will remain, the auction will be conducted online, as it was last year. The auction preview began Monday August 9th, with bidding commencing on Thursday August 12th. The auction will close Saturday August 21st at 9:00 p.m.

The theme for this year’s event, “Hope Knows My Name,” speaks to the personal connections between individuals and families that rely on the programs of Hospitality House and the staff and community members who help guide them toward stability and success.

Artist in Residence
Daily art to recommend! This week's Artists in Residence is Kathryn Regal, Mixed Media and Pencil Drawings.

Kathryn combines old family photos with current-day prints to make a story—either real or imagined. Adding images of maps, news clippings, advertisements, sewing patterns, stamps and more, she then paints the layers together with acrylic paint to make it seem like a seamless picture.

Artists in Residence at Edgewood Cottage continues through September 19 and is open every day.

Artist in Residence
Daily art to recommend! This week's Artists in Residence are Cindy McEnery with landscape photography, and Nathan Favors, who works in local and exotic turned woods.

After retirement, Cindy McEnery committed herself to photography with classes in Raleigh and study with National Geographic photographers across the country. Cindy focuses on things around her — nature and landscapes, barns and barn quilts, sunrises and sunsets, and animals and people—with a focus on North Carolina.
Known by art collectors around the world as “The Bowlmaker,” Nathan Favors captures the natural beauty of wood and transforms it into finished creations that highlight the unique grain and natural shades of each tree species. Every creation is one of a kind.

Artists in Residence at Edgewood Cottage continues through September 19 and is open every day.
